Backdancer!AU

ft. Kang Daniel

You’ve been working as a backup dancer for three years.

So you’re a freelance backup dancer. Like you’re not in a crew or anything because you’re the type to look for experience.

And money (let’s not lie about that o_o)

One day, one of the Unnie you’ve befriend from another project called you to join for Sunmi’s Gashina dancer team.

Of course you’ve jumped to the opportunity because you like her past solos and have a good feeling that it’s going to be a hit.

Thus, you’ve become part of the team. Also the youngest on the team. And start preparing for Sunmi’s comeback.

Fast forward to her comeback showcase.

The song is a hit! You were really happy.

After the first week of comeback stage, you were lounging with the others when one of the boys told you that Kikwang is going to have a comeback around next week.

“Uuuuuu,” you only cooed when Yuri (Y’ALL MIGHT KNEW HER AS THE HOT BLACK HAIRED BACKDANCER FROM GASHINA AND SHE’S SUCH A GIRL CRUSH) told you that Kikwang are using a new crew for his comeback stage.

It’s our cue for Daniel.

Kang Daniel is still new on the backup dancer industry.

Let’s say about 1 year.

He used to dance for singers from mid-tier agency, then he heard that Kikwang opened audition for his backdancers.

He got accepted, and is very happy because it means that he got to dance on REAL music program.

And also because Kikwang and the other dancer hyungs are very nice to him.

You two met on the backstage of Mcountdown for rehearsal, but you didn’t really saw him because you always busy dancing to other singer’s song while waiting for Sunmi’s turn.

You and the others went up, while Daniel and the other hyungs monitored via the tv installed backstage.

Daniel was instantly smitten as he saw you dance. Like his mouth can’t stop hanging open while watching you.

You did a great job delivering the choreo with your own charisma.

After Sunmi’s rehearsal, you stay back with one of the boys to watch Kikwang’s because hey hello the da da dancing shoes are back?!

You really enjoyed the song and the choreo, when your friend suddenly said.

“Oh? The pink haired kid must be new, he still looks nervous.” he said, you saw where he pointed and saw Daniel, face hidden by a big bucket hat but his hair peeked out.

Jumped to Music Bank recording the next day.

You were walking to the KBS building with Gashina team when you kinda met Kikwang’s dancer team near the entrance.

Of course you exchange polite greetings with them.

But you didn’t see Daniel’s face who lit up a little when he saw you.

This time, Sunmi is up after Kikwang’s performance so you guys are already standby backstage.

Of course Daniel can’t stop glancing at you.

Suddenly Yuri nudged you, “He keeps looking at you,” you followed her gaze to Daniel, who quickly pulled down his hat more and turned his face away.

“Eyyy Onnie, no way!” you laughed, but can’t help to steal one more glance at him.

Again, the recording ended well and you’re about to go home, but before that you need some soda.

Daniel was going to the toilet when he spotted you near the vending machine, so he gathered up his courage to greet you.

Only to missed you by second because the other Unnies called you to hurry up.

But the next day, Daniel got dragged by his hyungs to kinda hang out with the Gashina boys behind the MBC building.

When he saw them, he thought they were typical scary and snobby boys but he were wrong.

They are also warm to him and Daniel become all the hyungs’ favorite in no time.

Suddenly one of them asked about Gashina dance practice video where the girls and boys switched part.

“Oh I haven’t see that!” Daniel said, his hyungs practically shoved the video to his face.

As he watch it, the Gashina boys took notice that he’ll smile every time you are in the frame.

“You like our maknae don’t you?” they asked straight forward.

Daniel blushed.

“Wooooooooo,” the boys cooed, “She’s your style?” , “Do you want us to introduce you to her?”

Daniel grinned but politely declined all the offers, because he thinks it’ll be awkward like that.

But fate sure says the otherwise.

Sunday, the last day of Sunmi’s goodbye stage. Sunmi decide to throw a thank you dinner on a big restaurant near the SBS building.

You and the other dancers arrived at the restaurant and then startled to see Kikwang and his teams also going to eat at that place too.

Sunmi and Kikwang, you were surprised that two of them are friends, decided to book 2 largest rooms side by side which are connected by doors.

There are lots of people (make up artist, managers, backdancers etc) there and you didn’t know how you ended up sitting on the corner.

And when you looked to the side, the pink haired dancer a.k.a Daniel, sat beside you.

Lol okay, so the boys from both of you and Daniel’s team quickly formed a plan to make you two sit beside each other and that’s the story how they shoved you first and then Daniel to sat down beside you.

“Ah... I’m sorry... Hello, I’m Daniel...“ he shyly greeted you.

His voice is quite deep and you blushed before greeted him back.

All the Unnies and Hyungs nudged each other seeing you and Daniel.

And since you sat on the corner, you can’t help but have to ask for Daniel’s help to get something that’s too far from your reach.

But he’s literally doing it all. Cutting and grilling the meat, talking with everyone while also offering you the side dishes far from you.

You want to talk to him when suddenly someone propose for a drinking game.

You and Daniel lose (planned by the others ofc, the managers & other staffs joined). Kikwang and Sunmi decided the punishment should be you two dance to Gashina & What You Like but switch up your parts.

Daniel shyly dance to it, the girls squealed and the boys cheered. You were amazed by his dance but your turn come and Kikwang played his song, so you started to dance.

Remember the first time Daniel was smitten when he saw you dancing?

Well, he’s practically swoon over by you right now.

Whole room cheered as you dance perfectly to What You Like, with the right power and ease, just as good as Daniel and his hyungs.

Daniel can’t help but grinned widely and dance with you.

You stumbled but he swiftly caught you before you fall down.

Yeah all of them are ready to organize your wedding with Daniel at this rate.

The dinner was done, some of the guys were already come home but you want to get some ice cream to kinda wake you up.

You are standing in front of the ice cream cooler when someone stand beside you.

Of course it’s Daniel.

“Hey! You left before I can ask you something,” he grinned and take out his phone, “Can I have your number?”

You raised your eyebrows and take his phone, “Really? I thought you’re going to ask my number through Taesung or Jaewon Oppa.”

“You’re here so why the hassle? I was going to ask your number earlier at the restaurant but the hyungs cannot stop teasing me so I kinda have to wait until you are alone,” he still grinned, you finished typing and give it back to him.

You take out your own phone and start typing something, Daniel looked at you when his phone ring.

Coffee tomorrow at 2 P.M? ;)

“What is this?” he asked, can’t help but smiling widely as he read your message again, “Are you asking me to go on a date?”.

“Pffft slow down Daniel, we’re only going to drink coffee,” you smiled as you saw him sulking a little, “But maybe there will be dates in the future.”

yay! this is the AU i’m talking about in my progress page :> Got this idea after I saw Yuri (yes god Sunmi’s beautiful gorgeous charismatic sexy back dancer really make me want to cry because that gurl is a total crush), so I thought why I didn’t make something that is Backdancer!AU?! This AU might be having its sequel or with another wanna one member as the main character :D
